The beautiful Victorian property housing CMAT was built around 1872 and has provided services to the music industry for decades. Certainly during the 60s and 70s, almost every band in the West Midlands of England recorded at Grosvenor House.
Among them were the Rockin’ Berries, Applejacks, Mike Sheridan and the Nightriders, Carl Wayne and the Vikings, Pat Wayne and the Beachcombers, Spencer Davis and Steve Brett, The Mavericks, Moody Blues and a host of others.
In the more recent past, several of the now successful ‘big names’ also used the facilities. They included Sir Ken Dodd, Des O’Connor, Sir Cliff Richard, Jimmy Cliff, Noddy Holder, Steel Pulse, Jasper Carrott, Roy Wood and Raymond Froggatt, to name a few.
Indeed, the soundtracks for Thunderbirds and Jasper Carrott’s Funky Moped were recorded at Grosvenor House.
