World Music Wednesdays


On the last Wednesday of every month, CMAT are promoting a 'World Music Wednesday', hosted at CMAT Studios, Handsworth, Birmingham.
Each month CMAT present an artiste, of various styles from within the heading of 'World Music'.
Come along and join us from 8p.m., the last Wednesday of each month!

Calypso Rose

The Calypso Queen of the World.
McArtha Linda Sandy-Lewis, the first Queen of Calypso, has been composing and entertaining audiences since the age of fifteen.
In 1966 she wrote Fire In Me Wire, which has since become a calypso anthem.  Rose was the first female to win the Trinidad Road March Competition in 1977 with her song Tempo.  She won the Calypso Queen title five years running.  She has also won both the Trinidad Calypso Crown and Road March competitions in 1978, the Sunshine Award in 1989 and Trinidad & Tobago Hummingbird Medal in 2000.
Calypso Rose continues to inspire, uplift and entertain audiences around the world, so come along and enjoy the best of calypso, steel pan and film.
Special guest artiste, the superb pannist, Norman Stewart.

Radio C.M.A.T


Radio C.M.A.T is now streaming over the internet.  You can listen 24 hours a day, all week long!  Launched on June 11th, this year, the station runs shows with special guests and theme-shows, as well as tracks from our Artistes in Residence.
The Internet Radio room is also available for training purposes.  It has industry standard equipment, with iTunes, windows, Winamp and VLC capabilities.

November/09 Exhibition


CMAT has an exhibition on show, featuring the people that make CMAT what it is.  During the month of November/09, CMAT's receptionist Rose and Maxine snapped everyone who came through the doors.  Portraits include staff, people holding meetings at CMAT, people recording in the studio and music classes students.
